POSITION SUMMARY


The Membership and Visitor Services Associate is a friendly, engaging, and positive customer service professional who provides a memorable and enjoyable experience for visitors at the Autry Museum. The role of the MVS Associate is to provide customer service through a variety of ticketing, admissions, and membership functions, including providing visitors with information about the museum and its programs and events. The VSM Associate is responsible for the daily balancing of all admissions revenue, and for the reporting of all visitor information to other departments within the organization, as necessary. The goal of this position is to engage visitors by helping them feel welcome, providing superior customer service, and to focus on building stronger visitor and member relationships. A key function of the MVS Associate position is to actively encourage visitors to become Autry members by promoting the benefits of membership. Membership and Visitor Services Associates are eligible to receive paid commissions on all new membership sales.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Process admissions for all museum visitors, including assisting school group and tour group admissions processing.
  • Cultivate knowledge of admissions ticketing system, including coding, reporting, functions, etc.
  • Assertively promote membership benefits to encourage membership sales.
  • Responsible for focusing on membership sales goals and for continued improvement of membership relations in order to help the Autry attain said goals.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to museum visitors by creating a friendly, welcoming, and informative environment for all museum guests.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all in-coming phone calls, including picking up and returning voicemails and transferring calls to appropriate staff.
  • Cultivate knowledge of museum operations, history, exhibits, and membership program information to provide accurate information to museum visitors and guests.
  • Perform daily register opening and closing procedures in accordance with the Visitor Services policy and procedure manual. .
  • Prepare nightly bank deposits and paperwork for accounting and marketing departments.
  • Prepare daily admissions reports for accounting and marketing departments.
  • Responsible for replenishing brochures/pamphlets/flyers to exhibits and information counters.
  • Create and enter admissions information into spreadsheets for future attendance planning and projecting.
  • Attend meetings as a representative of the Visitor Services department as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Candidates must demonstrate the following education, skills and experience:


  • Two or more years course work toward a college degree or related work experience.
  • One or more year’s customer service experience.
  • One or more years cashiering experience in a fast paced admissions-related environment (i.e. museum, retail, theme park, etc.).
  • Membership sales environment experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Social Media platforms is a plus.
  • Proficiency in data entry in a PC environment and knowledge of database and office systems.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis and evenings as needed.
  • Must be productive and approachable while working in a public space.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for delivering excellent customer service, with a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn about natural and cultural history.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a desire to work with the public.
  • Excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and ability to problem solve.
  • Demonstrate aptitude to learn, use, and teach appropriate customer service selling techniques as part of a team-centered, customer-focused sales environment.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be physically capable of responding to public emergency situation.
  • Must be able to lift 35 lb. boxes or equipment.
  • Requires the use of a computer
